Coordinates the Dean’s schedule, travel, requests for appointments and events.

Responsible for maintaining a Faculty-wide information repository, developing strong communications with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of project documentation and shared project workspaces.

Responsible for providing leadership and direction on human resources issues for faculty, staff and students appointees within the Faculty of Science, and for providing leadership to the Dean’s office administrative staff. Manages HR-related annual processes for Science including faculty search processes and salary increase processes.

Provides comprehensive strategic financial and operational management for the Faculty. Leads innovative initiatives to move strategic plans forward and provides authoritative advice on financial issues.

Manages student affairs including academic misconduct process, student awards and scholarships and the Special Occasion liquor license approvals.

Provides leadership and advice on identification and preparation of major collaborative grant proposals; establishes and manages the development of Faculty-level initiatives requiring grant funding from federal, provincial and international funding agencies including NSERC, CIHR, CFI, BC Knowledge Development Fund and others, including industry.

Provides leadership, communication, and strategic planning for IT initiatives across the Faculty of Science; coordinates IT services among the Faculty of Science departments, UBC IT, and other university IT groups.

Leads the assessment of faculty needs and is responsible for aligning business requirements with information technology solutions. Provides expertise to plan and implement Workday Student, devises workflows and processes to ensure continuity of service for the unit.

Supports two interconnected initiatives: 1. A TLEF-funded cross-Faculty and cross-unit 2-credit course development project (title: Course Development for the Indigenous STEM Bridging Program), and 2.

Responsible for leading the development, planning, and implementation of academic projects and initiatives for the Dean. Oversees key activities to ensure the academic advancement of faculty members through the formal promotion and tenure review process and award recognition.

Responsible for planning, implementing, and collaborating with faculty and staff on research and evaluation projects to explore and analyze data sets relevant to teaching and learning.

Responsible for leadership and direction of student advising and engagement services. Provides leadership for developing, implementing and assessing policies and processes related to all aspects of undergraduate student services in the Faculty of Science from prospective through to graduation.

Provides support to the fundraising team; executes donor reports, provides event logistics and supports the donor stewardship program. Works with central Development office on campus-wide fundraising initiatives.

Generates all administration and communication materials for the extended Skylight (Science Centre for Learning and Teaching) team across the Faculty.

Provides data analytics and decision support for the implementation and ongoing operationalization of the Faculty’s strategic priorities as outlined in “Improving our World through Science.”

Responsible for the Faculty's curriculum process and overseeing and appointing Directors for Science education programs including Science Gateway Programs, Integrated Science and Coordinated Science Programs; oversees the Science Centre for Learning and Teaching (Skylight).

Provides support on internal operations and processes including donations, grants and new endowments. Works with central Development office on establishing and implementing best practices and workflows.

Responsible for issues related to research and graduate student matters, including faculty and graduate student awards, Canada Research Chairs, Canadian Foundation for Innovation, conflict of interest, intellectual property, and ethics review.

Manages the administrative team and daily operations of the Faculty of Science Development team, leads endowment and award creation and provides strategy to the fundraising staff.
