
There are many mental health and wellbeing resources you can access on campus as a UBC student.
Counselling and mental health
UBC’s Counselling Services is your first point of contact for any mental health concerns. They offer virtual, phone, and in-person appointments, including same-day drop-ins, short-term therapy, and group counselling.
The Indigenous Mental Health & Wellbeing Program (IMHWP) offers free, confidential drop-in and brief counselling, mentoring from professional staff, and connections to community resources that promote wellbeing. It also supports cultural work and planning sessions to help you navigate challenges while attending UBC.
The Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) provides a confidential space for those impacted by sexual or gender-based violence. They offer support with finding safe housing, academic accommodations, reporting options, and more.
The AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) provides crisis and emotional support, advocacy, and referrals for survivors of sexualized violence.
Physical and mental health
You can access a variety of medical services through Student Health Service, including exams, diagnosis, treatment, contraception, and prescriptions. Appointments are available by phone, video, or in person for students in British Columbia.
Registered nurses on campus are available for drop-in consultations, providing free, confidential support on physical, mental, and emotional health concerns.
The Wellness Centre is a peer-hosted space offering various programs to support your wellbeing, including harm reduction supplies, a sexual health shop, and wellness training sessions.
The UBC Health and Wellbeing is an online hub that provides access a wide range of health resources, self-help tools, and peer support.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
You can refer to a collection of resources designed to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes the wellbeing and success of all students.
The Equity and Inclusion Office works to foster an inclusive UBC community where human rights are respected, and equity is embedded in all areas of university life. It offers advising, training, and resources on human rights, diversity, and inclusion.
The Office of the Ombudsperson for Students is an independent, impartial, and confidential resource that works with students to address conflicts and concerns. The office works towards creating a fair and respectful academic and campus environment.
The Centre for Accessibility provides disability-related accommodations and programming to promote equal access to all aspects of university life. Advisors can assist with housing, funding, academic accommodations, and more for students with disabilities or ongoing medical conditions (including physical and mental health).
