Making a submission?

The Dean of Science invites you to submit an original poem or song on any science topics.  An ode to an epsilon-delta proof?  A limerick about the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry?  Let your creativity shine!

For example, you can write a limerick, a haiku, a sonnet, or a song from any music genre – whether it be a rap or a ballad or an acoustic song. Your submission should be created by you, without the use of generative AI.

A selection of submissions will be invited to be performed at the upcoming Coffee House, hosted by Dean Mark MacLachlan. For the selected submissions of poetry, you have the option to present your own, or have it read aloud on your behalf (either with attribution to you, or as an anonymous submission).

In addition, a number of entrants will be randomly selected for a pizza lunch later this term with the Dean, Mark MacLachlan, and Associate Deans James Charbonneau and Jackie Stewart.

To submit:

  • You must be a Science student (i.e., BSc or BCS) to submit an entry
  • You can submit as an individual or a duo; all participants must be from Science
  • The length of your submission should be a maximum of one 8 x 11” page with 12-point font and uploaded as a PDF saved as: “FullName_Title.pdf”
  • You are limited to one submission (one poem OR one song)

Submissions closed on Sunday Mar 2, 11:59 PM.
