Professors Ian Affleck and Douglas Scott-both with the Department of Physics and Astronomy-have been named 2008 Outstanding Referees by the American Physical Society. This is the inaugural issue of the designation, which will go to roughly 130 of the Society's 42,000 active referees each year. The award program recognizes scientists who have been exceptionally helpful in assessing manuscripts for publication in APS journals. 2008 honorees come from 33 different countries, with large contingents from the US, Germany, UK, Canada and France.
