Learn about pathways to engage in undergraduate research at UBC and visit active labs on campus.

Thinking about getting involved in research? Whether you're keen to get some experience, or you're passionate that your future career is in research, join SCI Team for an interactive dive into undergraduate research in the Faculty of Science. 

This two-part event will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of research opportunities at UBC.

November 4 - Pathways to Undergraduate Research 

5:30 - 8:00 PM on Campus 

This interactive event will feature prominent researchers from UBC Science, including upper-level undergraduate and graduate students conducting research across all disciplines. 

Students will leave the event having had the opportunity to 

  • Gain insight into why undergraduate research matters
  • Understand pathways to getting involved in undergraduate research
  • Connect with current researchers and upper-year students who are actively engaging in research at UBC in roundtable discussions

Students can expect to leave this session with tangible next steps and strategies to find research opportunities at UBC. 

November 18 - Active Lab Tours 

5:30 - 7:00 PM on Campus 

In order to attend the Lab Tours on November 18, you must have attended and participated in Pathways to Undergraduate Research on November 4.

Join small groups to venture out into UBC labs to meet with researchers and get an idea of what it's like to be in a research facility. You'll choose which labs you want to visit after connecting with researchers on November 4.

Note: Registration for this event is limited due to lab capacity and spots are highly sought-after. Please only register if you plan to prioritize your time to attend. In order to attend the Lab Tours on November 18, you must attend and participate in the November 4 event. In the event that you register and something unanticipated comes up (e.g., illness), please let us know as soon as possible by replying to your registration email so that we can release the spot to another student.
