Tips and Advice from Tiffany Chao
Which SCI Team event are you looking forward to the most and why?
I cannot wait for the Science Case Competition in January! What better way to test your science knowledge than by doing a case competition? The fact that there will be different case competitions based on various subjects within science such as biology, chemistry, physics, as well as other majors is inviting for everyone. Even non-science students can join, and I love how inclusive this event is.
What do you passionately love to do during your spare time?
My dog is my life. During my spare time, I enjoy petting him and playing tug-of-war or fetch with him. I am always welcomed with lots of tail wagging and smiles! In the times that I am not spending time with my dog, I learn some tabs or chords to some songs I enjoy listening to. It is always rewarding to be able to play a song smoothly along with the music!
If you could only give one piece of advice to any undergraduate student, what would it be?
You are here to discover yourself. Step out of your comfort zone. Go sit next to that student that looks lonely, apply for that position that you think is beyond your abilities, and most importantly, go make real friends who you know will stick with you no matter what. As much as university is to provide higher learning, it is also here to help you grow in other ways. It is normal to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you need to do, but it is important to find support in your friends and family. These people are the ones you want to find through your university experience, and I promise that finding them will be worth it!
You're an addition to the crayon box. What color would you be?
Tiffany blue to match my name, of course!
