Tips and Advice from Chin-Vern Tan
Which SCI Team event are you looking forward to the most and why?
I'm really excited for Get Into Volunteering, because it's one of the only opportunities on campus that focuses on fostering the connections between Science students and the local community. I've also heard the food is going to be pretty awesome!
What do you passionately love to do during your spare time?
If you could only give one piece of advice to any undergraduate student, what would it be?
No one is that A+ student who works in 12 research labs, is a first author on 4 publications, is on the exec team of every club imaginable, and a world-class basketball player. You will experience times of confusion, where you're not sure where you stand in the midst of 60 000 UBC students, and you will question yourself and your abilities. Don't forget these thoughts race through the minds of every single UBC student—you are not alone in your uncertainty and bewilderment.
You're an addition to the crayon box. What color would you be?
Oxblood, like most things I own.
