Tips and Advice from Amanda Chao
Which SCI Team event are you looking forward to the most and why?
I'm really looking forward to Beyond the BSc! It's a great opportunity to meet with past UBC alumni and get a sense of what kind of jobs are out there for Science graduates. I think many Science students are confused about what lies beyond their bachelor's degree and it's inspiring to hear from so many graduates who have gone on to pursue such diverse career paths.
What do you passionately love to do during your spare time?
I love listening to and discovering new music, going to concerts, and anything that gives me an adrenaline rush. I also love a good Netflix session and just spending time with family and friends.
If you could only give one piece of advice to any undergraduate student, what would it be?
Try new things and get involved! Joining extracurriculars is a great way to meet new people and learn new things, while also developing your professional skills. University can be tough but it is a lot more enjoyable when you find the right balance between academics and your social life!
You're an addition to the crayon box. What color would you be?
A blue and white swirl.
