The Vivien M. Srivastava Career Mentoring Workshop is designed to increase the participation and success of science graduate students in research, education and industry careers.
The workshop-open to female and male students-helps participants develop strategies to set, manage and balance career with personal life goals. From professional networking to family planning, role models share their insights into a successful and enjoyable work-life experience. The inaugural workshop was held in 2008.
The inaugural Vivien M. Srivastava Career Mentoring Workshop held in May 2008 was a great success. The workshop format of bringing graduate students together with inspiring role models, who shared their experience in academic and non-academic careers, was greatly appreciated by the participants. Close to 100 graduate students in the sciences, three-quarters of them women, enjoyed a day full of lectures, interactive breakout sessions and opportunities for networking with peers and professionals.
