International Service Learning

Looking for a way to actively learn about your discipline in an international community development setting? International Service Learning (ISL) is an educationally enriching program that fosters meaningful connections with communities around the world and inspires discovery of the local impact of global concerns. Go Global’s ISL program allows you to engage in substantial projects led by community partners around the world. Learning Exchange Trek Program

The Trek Volunteer Program provides opportunities for UBC students to do community service in a variety of schools, non-profit organizations, and community centers in inner-city neighborhoods of Vancouver. The program gives students real-life experience in the community while raising their awareness of health, social, economic, and political issues.

Reading Week Programs

As part of the Learning Exchange Trek Volunteer Program, teams of students do short-term projects with community organizations and learn about urban issues during the Reading Break. Students will work with peers from a variety of faculties and programs while being challenged to think critically about citizenship and community.

SCI Team Peer Program

The SCI Team Peer Program supports science students through their development by providing thoughtful and intentional interactions with their peers. The goal is that both peers and students gain skills, feel a personal connection to UBC, and engage in new and interesting leadership and learning opportunities. Along with Student Development, UBC Science builds a team of 20 science students interested in supporting, enhancing and developing the academic experiences of their peers in the Faculty. SCI Team Peers work in academic support services, event planning, workshop development and implementation, and other areas.
