Awards, Support and Housing

UBC Science programs endeavour to provide a reasonable level of guaranteed financial support to accepted graduate students—more information is available on individual graduate program websites. The University also offers and administers many programs that provide financial help to graduate students. Last year, UBC Science graduate students won over $3.7 million in Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada graduate scholarship funding based on the excellence of their academic performance and research proposals.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is responsible for merit-based graduate awards at UBC Vancouver. Graduate Studies manage a number of award competitions each year and administer payment of both internally and externally funded awards.

Housing

Graduate students have many options when selecting on-campus housing at UBC, and major fellowship holders are guaranteed housing assignments to single student residences. To be eligible, applications must be received by the residence by May 1, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies must confirm your full-time status. To find out which graduate awards are eligible for assured student housing, please contact UBC Housing and Conferences. The Housing department’s application process is entirely separate from the admissions process—don't wait until you're admitted to Graduate Studies before applying for housing.
