Science 101 is a three-month, non-credit, free course offered to residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and other surrounding communities. Food, course materials, transportation, and field trip costs are all provided. Student cards which give access to UBC facilities are also provided.

If you're an adult who is interested in science, this course is for you! Science 101 provides an introductory science education to adults who have historically had difficulty accessing university. Students are introduced to a wide variety of topics, including natural disasters, outer space, plants, and more. Classes are taught by University of British Columbia professors and graduate students. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Applications are accepted each year in March and April for the upcoming program. The 2024 info sessions are starting this month. Please visit the Apply page for more details on where to attend an upcoming info session and apply to the program.
